Welcome to the iMPACT Classic!
We are delighted to host the second annual iMPACT Classic held at the Richmond Country Club. This tournament will once again bring an exciting level of women’s professional golf to Richmond -- one of 17 select markets in 15 states chosen to stage a Duramed FUTURES Tour tournament. Women's professional golf is at an all-time high in popularity and this event promises to showcase the next wave of young stars. Long-term rivalries to be played out on the LPGA Tour over the next few decades will begin here on the Duramed FUTURES Tour.
We invite you to join us at this year's event to not only cheer for these talented athletes as they pursue a place on the 2010 LPGA Tour but also be part of bringing the players to Richmond. You will have the opportunity to play alongside these young dynamic players. Our players are recognized as the LPGA's stars of tomorrow and they reinforce that message each year by winning LPGA tournaments and top LPGA honors. The players you watch at the event come from more than 31 countries around the world. They begin the season with great credentials and previous success in amateur and collegiate golf.
As the LPGA’s developmental tour, the Duramed FUTURES Tour has nearly 300 alumnae as current LPGA members and more than 500 alums that have moved on to the LPGA. Many of these professionals have become the world's top-ranked players. The
iMPACT Classic will offer you the chance to watch players who most likely will move on to the LPGA Tour next year and claim such honors as the Louise Suggs Rolex Rookie of The Year. Mexico's Lorena Ochoa was the 2002 Player of the Year on the Duramed FUTURES Tour, became the LPGA's top rookie in 2003, then went on to earn honors in 2006, 2007 and 2008 as the LPGA's Rolex Player of the Year. Tour alum Angela Park was the LPGA’s top rookie in 2007. Inbee Park won the 2008 U.S. Women’s Open Championship.
This year's event in Richmond reflects the growth and lasting support of women’s
golf in Virginia. The excitement of watching 144 of the world’s best golfers is
memorable, but equally valuable is the opportunity that hosting this tournament
provides in support for local charities. What better way to combine world-class
entertainment and charitable endeavors than to stage this tournament? It is our
goal to work closely with various local charities to make a lasting contribution
to the Metro Richmond community for years to come, as well as to stage a unique event for which you may be proud.
