2010  Volunteer Position Descriptions
Event Set Up
Assist in placing stakes and signage on course (Monday, Tuesday) an assists on Sunday with tear down.
Pro-Am
Assist in registration, checking golf bags and shuttling amateurs to and from the range.
Cart Driver
Drives the cart that carries the bas for each threesome, keeps an unofficial score for each of the players in the group, reports scores to hole reporters at specified hole, and turns in unofficial scores after nine holes.
Check-in
Register volunteers every day.
Hospitality
Greet VIP guest – marshal inside VIP tent area.
Hole Reporter
Report unofficial scores obtained from cart drivers.
Computer Operator
Input scores for upload to the website.
Radio Operator/Recorder
Monitor transmissions from the hole reporters.
Driving Distance Recorder
Record the length of each player’s drive off the tee
Marshal
Responsible for gallery control and safety, assists in spotting balls.
Parking Attendant /Shuttle
Pointing drivers to proper parking locations and shuttle volunteers and spectators to and from the parking lot.
Scoring Tent
Verify final scores of players, get scores recorded.
Main Scoreboard Posting
Update scores on leaderboard on final two days.
Leaderboard Posting
Update scores on leaderboard on final two days
On Course Shuttle Driver
Provides shuttle service between specified areas (e.g., between hole 9 and 10) for players.
Spotter
Assist players in locating ball by spotting where balls landed.
Standard Bearer
Final two days – carry standard showing players’ status, keep unofficial score for each player, transmit the results after each hole to leaderboard.
Timing
Track the time each group completes the hole, report groups exceeding expected time. May also assist spotters, marshals.
Main Gate / Ticket Sales
Sell tickets and greet spectators as they enter the course.
Media Escort
Drive print and video media around the course as they photograph and video tape play.
